Job Description
Plastic Extrusion Supervisor We're looking for a hands-on, proactive Plastic Extrusion Supervisor to lead 3rd shift extrusion operations. New hires will train on a day shift schedule before transitioning to their permanent 3rd shift hours. In this role, you'll oversee daily production of plastic extrusions, uphold quality standards, and keep the extrusion department running efficiently. The right candidate brings strong mechanical know-how, hands-on experience with plastics extrusion, and the leadership skills to guide a team in a fast-paced, improvement-driven environment. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day plastic extrusion operations to meet production targets and quality standards. Partner with maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues with extruders and other fabrication equipment. Provide clear direction to team members regarding shift priorities and daily activities. Support extrusion operators and process technicians with troubleshooting as needed. Apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflow, cut waste, and boost efficiency. Enforce adherence to work instructions and communicate process changes to the team. Coordinate team assignments to maximize production efficiency. Oversee safe and efficient handling of raw materials and finished goods, including forklift and hand tool use. Cover team member breaks and assist with production tasks as needed. Train and mentor employees on machine operation, safety, and quality procedures. Monitor equipment performance and report issues to maintenance promptly. Qualifications and Skills Hands-on experience in plastics extrusion, blow molding, injection molding, or a related manufacturing process. Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of production equipment. 1-2 years of supervisory or manufacturing management experience. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles; warehouse experience is a plus. Comfortable operating hand tools safely in a production environment. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team while promoting a safety-first culture. Experience with forklifts or other materials handling equipment preferred. Quick learner who can give clear direction and motivate a team toward strong performance. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. Highly organized with strong attention to detail for documentation and process compliance. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to start date.
