Lamar, SC General Purpose of Job:
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the safe and efficient operation of company welding equipment and basic machine maintenance. This person must have a clear understanding of basic welding processes in a metal working shop, welding equipment and safety. This position must be able to supervise the operation of basic metal working equipment (drills, hand grinders, metal cutting saws, hoists, etc.) in addition to the welding equipment. This is an hourly 2nd Shift position, Monday - Thursday, 4:30 pm. - 3:00 am. Overtime may apply. Pay is commensurate with experience.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The supervisor must be able to perform the following essential duties and tasks. 1. Promote a safe working environment through training, accountability, and use of PPE. 2. Supervise daily activities and establish work schedules to achieve production targets. 3. Assure that production team members are trained to effectively follow work instructions and meet acceptable quality standards. 4. Develop team member abilities through coaching, performance appraisal, and setting goals. 5. Communicate critical safety, quality, and business information in an effective manner. 6. Actively participate in problem solving and project teams developed to achieve continuous improvement. 7. Analyze department production data to determine root causes of issues, and lead efforts to resolve those issues and improve performance. 8. Prepare and distribute manufacturing report summaries as needed. 9. Prepare, conduct, and council employees on periodic job performance standards. 10. Complete other duties as assigned.Skills and Qualifications:
1. 3 - 5 years of Welding (GMAW/GTAW) experience 2. 2 - 3 years of Supervisory experience in Welding. 3. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of MES or Epicor a plus. 4. Expert ability to read blueprints and job schematics. 5. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills - experience with Lean and 8D processes a plus. 6. Leadership experience and team management skills 7. Working knowledge of codes & standards such as ASME, DOT, API, OSHA, and AWS inspection.Other requirements of the position:
1. Proficient working knowledge of mechanics, electrical circuitry, and use of welding equipment. 2. Competent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals). 3. Excellent understanding of the use of equipment, especially that which is manufactured by the Company. 4. Proficient ability to read, write and communicate in English as work documents and manuals are written in this language. 5. Competency in Business directives. Able to understand, apply, and solve issues through use of business metrics set forth by the Company.Job Type:
