Job Description
Production Operator•3rd Shift
Location:
Carpentersville, IL
Shift:
11:00 PM•7:30 AM
Overtime Shift:
7:00 PM•7:00 AM (as needed)
Position Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations by operating equipment, performing changeovers, handling raw materials, maintaining production processes, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This position works in a hands-on manufacturing environment and requires adherence to established operating procedures.
This position is being added to support current operational needs and offers the potential for future full-time employment; however, conversion is not guaranteed.
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with frequent manual labor.
Responsibilities include bagging operations, equipment changeovers, and cleaning activities.
Work area may be dusty.
Dust masks (such as KN95 masks) may be required for certain tasks.
Stair climbing is frequent.
Occasional ladder use may be required, generally less than 20 feet.
All new hires complete a physical assessment during the onboarding process.
Training
All employees will train on 1st Shift (7:00 AM•3:30 PM) during the initial training period to ensure consistent support and instruction before transitioning to their assigned shift.
Overtime Requirements
Overtime may be required based on operational needs, staffing requirements, production demands, vacation coverage, and other business needs. Overtime shifts are typically 12-hour schedules from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in safety initiatives.
Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Perform product changeovers, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of production equipment.
Execute daily production schedules and support quality standards.
Report equipment, quality, or production issues promptly.
Stage packaging materials and production areas.
Manually lift and load materials weighing up to 55 pounds or more into production equipment.
Package finished products and prepare materials for movement within the facility.
Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when authorized.
Use hand tools to process and finish materials.
Manage waste disposal in accordance with company procedures.
Support raw material handling activities, including organizing, weighing, measuring, and staging materials.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Perform routine quality control checks and accurately document production data.
Conduct basic equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance activities, and troubleshooting as assigned.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of 6 months of manufacturing, production, warehouse, or related industrial experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read and understand written procedures and work instructions.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong attendance and reliability record.
Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed.
Preferred
Mechanical aptitude or previous experience operating manufacturing equipment.
Forklift experience.
Experience using SAP or other manufacturing systems.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts up to 12 hours.
Ability to perform bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and repetitive movements throughout the shift.
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
Ability to work in environments that may include dust, varying temperatures, loud noise, and industrial equipment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to climb stairs regularly and ladders occasionally.
Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
