Job Summary The Ironworker / Field Welder at Pro Weld LLC is responsible for structural welding, and installing structural steel, rigging, and miscellaneous metals at various field project sites. This role requires a high degree of technical welding skill, physical stamina, and an absolute commitment to site safety.

Core Roles & Responsibilities Structural Welding & Fabrication:

Perform high-quality SMAW/Stick and FCAW/Flux-Cored field welding in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. Read and interpret structural blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols to plan layouts. Cut, torch, grind, and prepare steel components for proper fit-up and alignment according to AWS standards.

Steel Erection & Rigging:

Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld steel components to form structural frameworks for buildings or custom structures. Signal operators and utilize rigging equipment like slings, shackles, and chains to safely lift and position heavy structural steel members. Work alongside 8,000-pound and 10,000-pound telescoping forklifts with jib attachments to safely maneuver materials on-site. Guide steel members into plumb, level, and square positions using turnbuckles, sleever bars, jacks, and levels before final welding or bolting.

Equipment & Tool Maintenance:

Safely operate and perform daily pre-start inspections on field welding trucks, generators, and welding machines. Maintain and safely utilize hand and power tools such as grinders, torch setups, magnetic drills, and impact wrenches. Ensure proper storage of welding electrodes, keep low-hydrogen rods in rod ovens, and track on-site consumable inventory.

Safety & Daily Operations:

Follow all OSHA, general contractor, and Pro Weld LLC safety regulations, strictly adhering to 100% tie-off policies at heights. Establish hot work zones using welding screens and fire blankets, and position fire watches when necessary. Correctly utilize all required PPE, including welding hoods, safety glasses, hard hats, steel-toe boots, and fall protection harnesses. Daily time tracking and job clock-ins are efficiently managed using the Jobber platform. Qualifications & Key Competencies Competency Requirement Certifications

AWS D1.1

structural welding certification; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card. Experience Typically 2+ years of field ironworking or structural welding experience. Technical Skill Proficiency in oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, welding, and reading weld symbols. Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding, work at significant heights, and withstand outdoor weather conditions.
