Job Description

Venue Production Crew Member (General Labor Support) Reports to: Technical Director The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts is seeking part-time Production Hand / General Labor staff to support a wide range of performances, educational programming, rentals, festivals, and special events. Position Overview Production Hands provide essential behind-the-scenes labor to support event setup, execution, and strike. This role focuses on physical production support and does not require technical operation of equipment. Key Responsibilities Assist with event and performance load-in and load-out Set up and strike tables, chairs, risers, linens, and other staging elements Support room resets for performances, classes, and rentals Assist backstage during events (deck support, moving equipment, props, etc.) Maintain cleanliness and organization of backstage and storage areas (cleaning tables and chairs, vacuuming / sweeping / mopping floors, taking out the trash) Assist with basic facility and production maintenance (e.g., painting, changing light bulbs) Important Distinction This is a non-technical role .
Production Hands:
Do not independently operate lighting, audio, or AV systems Work under the direction of technical staff Focus on physical setup, logistics, and backstage support We are willing to train production hands that are interested in becoming production technicians. Qualifications (Applies to All Production Staff) Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Ability to lift and move equipment (50 lbs. or more with assistance) Strong communication skills Reliability Experience Varying experience levels welcome, including high school and college students interested in technical theater or live events Work Environment Indoor and outdoor event settings, including theater, studio, and festival environments Physically active role requiring standing, lifting, and movement Fast-paced, live-event atmosphere To Apply Send cover letter, resume, and references to: jobs@wilson-center.
