Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining Valley Foods' Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs and ensuring that all products are manufactured safely, consistently, and in compliance with company, customer, regulatory, and certification requirements. This position oversees the facility's SQF Food Safety and Quality System, Organic Certification requirements, HACCP/Food Safety Plans, GMP programs, sanitation verification, regulatory compliance, customer requirements, documentation, product release, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. The QA Manager serves as the primary leader of the Quality Department and is expected to maintain a strong presence on the production floor, develop and train the QA team, identify issues before they become larger problems, and work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, Purchasing, Warehouse, R&D, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate is highly organized, confident on the production floor, strong in documentation and follow-through, and comfortable working directly with other departments. Responsibilities Maintain the facility's SQF Food Safety and Quality System, HACCP/Food Safety Plans, GMP programs, and Organic Certification. Prepare for and participate in SQF, Organic, regulatory, customer, and third-party audits. Maintain QA documentation, SOPs, records, specifications, and corrective actions. Oversee production quality checks, product HOLD/release, labeling, lot coding, packaging integrity, and product specifications. Oversee quality requirements for retort and thermal processing, including record review and process deviations. Maintain supplier approval, incoming material, traceability, mock recall, sanitation verification, and GMP programs. Lead root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Investigate customer complaints and recurring quality issues. Train and develop QA Technicians and production employees on food-safety and quality requirements. Work closely with other departments. Stop production or place products on HOLD when food safety or significant quality concerns exist. Qualifications At least 3 years of previous Quality Assurance/Food Safety experience in food manufacturing. Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and food-safety regulations. Experience with audits, corrective actions, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain a strong presence on the production floor and consistently enforce quality standards. Preferred SQF Practitioner experience or training. HACCP and/or PCQI certification. Organic Certification experience. Retort or thermal-processing experience. Previous QA leadership or management experience. Pay rate is based on experience.
