This person acts as the independent set of eyes on the job, identifying issues before they become expensive repairs, delays, or homeowner complaints. The QC Manager does not replace the Superintendent or Project Manager. Instead, they inspect, verify, document, and hold the construction team accountable for quality. Key Responsibilities 1. Field Quality Inspections Conduct scheduled inspections throughout each phase of construction. Inspect workmanship, materials, dimensions, and installation quality. Verify construction matches approved plans and specifications. Identify deficiencies before the next trade begins.
Perform inspections at critical milestones:
Foundation/slab Framing Roofing Windows & doors MEP rough-ins Insulation Drywall Cabinets/trim Flooring Paint Final finishes Final punch 2. Quality Control & Accountability Create and maintain standardized QC checklists. Document deficiencies with photographs and written reports. Assign corrective actions to the responsible trade or superintendent. Track deficiencies until they are completely resolved. Verify corrections before approving the next construction phase. Identify recurring problems and recommend process improvements. 3. Subcontractor Quality Monitor subcontractor workmanship and adherence to company standards. Establish clear quality expectations with each trade. Document repeated deficiencies. Participate in subcontractor performance reviews. Help establish a preferred subcontractor network based on quality, reliability, and performance. 4. Pre-Closing / Homeowner Quality Conduct detailed final inspections before homeowner orientation. Create and manage punch lists. Verify all punch items are completed. Ensure the home is clean, functional, and ready for delivery. Help reduce warranty claims by identifying problems before closing.
