Job Title:
Quality Control Technician Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in our products through various inspections and testing procedures. Your role will involve conducting pre-operational inspections, X-ray testing, metal detector testing, and quality checks. You will also be responsible for documentation, dimension and integrity checks on packaging, code matching ingredients on labels, and conducting seal and specification checks. Additionally, you will ensure compliance by checking for foreign materials and holding production lines when necessary. Responsibilities Conduct pre-operational inspections and X-ray testing. Perform metal detector testing and quality checks. Maintain thorough quality documentation. Conduct dimension and integrity checks on packaging. Match ingredients on labels for code accuracy. Perform seal checks and specification checks, including best by dates. Inspect for foreign materials and hold production lines if needed. Essential Skills Experience in quality control and quality assurance. Knowledge of GMP, quality inspection, and auditing procedures. Familiarity with X-ray and metal detecting equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or equivalent quality experience in the food industry. Understanding of HACCP and critical control points is a plus. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and time management skills. Ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and maintain honesty and accountability. Work Environment The position operates on a first and second shift, with four technicians, one lead, and one supervisor per shift. The work environment is relatively loud, with a 40% office and 60% floor testing and checks split. The facility operates 24/5, with occasional weekend work based on production needs. A comprehensive training process is provided, typically completed in less than a month. A shift differential applies for the 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday to Friday shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kankakee, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
