We're launching a manufacturing facility in Las Cruces to produce in-vessel composting drum systems and related equipment — starting with rotary drum composters and expanding into a full product line of waste processing equipment. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build a manufacturing operation from scratch. The Role We're hiring a QC Specialist to build and run our quality program from the ground up. You'll define how we inspect, test, and release product — from incoming materials through final assembly and shipping. This role is equal parts hands-on inspection and quality systems development. What You'll Do Develop and execute incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures for composting drum systems Perform hands-on inspections: dimensional checks on fabricated steel frames, weld quality inspection, rotomolded drum wall thickness and integrity, motor/drivetrain assembly verification, and functional testing of controls and air systems Build and maintain quality documentation: inspection checklists, control plans, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action logs Lead nonconformance investigations — document defects, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) Manage calibration program for measurement and test equipment Track quality metrics: first pass yield, defect rates, NCR trends, supplier quality performance Work with engineering on inspection criteria, drawing interpretation, and acceptance standards Support supplier quality — perform incoming material inspections and coordinate with procurement on supplier corrective actions Conduct internal audits and maintain quality records Train production staff on quality standards, workmanship criteria, and inspection techniques What We're Looking For 3-6 years in a quality control or quality assurance role in a manufacturing environment Hands-on inspection experience with fabricated metal parts, welded assemblies, or industrial equipment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols Proficient with standard inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, weld gauges, pin gauges Experience writing inspection procedures, control plans, and NCR documentation Familiarity with root cause analysis methods (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) Strong documentation habits and attention to detail Associate's degree or technical certification in a relevant field; or equivalent experience Preferred ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or ability to perform basic weld quality assessment Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001) Background in equipment manufacturing, heavy fabrication, or rotational molding Experience with CMM or structured light scanning Bilingual English/Spanish Benefits Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Ground-floor opportunity to shape a new manufacturing operation Relocation assistance available
