Job Description

Materials Lab Technician Superior Metals Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented Materials Lab Technician to support quality metal production. In this role, you will prepare and test metal samples, operate lab instruments, and record precise measurements to verify strength, composition, and performance. You will follow standardized test methods, maintain lab equipment, and document results for production and engineering teams. The technician helps investigate nonconforming materials, supports continuous improvement, and upholds strict safety and housekeeping standards in a fast-paced, quality-focused manufacturing environment. Prepare and test metal and materials samples per standard procedures Operate and calibrate lab equipment and testing instruments Record, analyze, and report test data with high accuracy Support investigation of nonconforming materials and quality issues Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and equipment upkeep Follow safety, PPE, and environmental protocols at all times Communicate test results to production, engineering, and quality teams Assist with continuous improvement and process validation activities Materials testing Metallurgy basics Mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, impact) Dimensional inspection and measurement Use of micrometers, calipers, gauges Data recording and basic analysis Quality control and documentation Reading technical drawings and specs Laboratory safety and PPE Calibration and basic equipment maintenance Prior experience in a manufacturing or materials testing lab preferred Familiarity with ASTM or ISO test methods is a plus OSHA safety training or similar safety certification preferred
