Documents and reports inspection findings including measurements, observations, photographs and maintains detailed records of the findings in the computer system and other internal programs. Essential Functions And Responsibilities 1. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor performs mechanical, physical, visual inspection, and testing of products, assemblies and finished product per drawings/prints and specification requirements. 2. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor documents and reports inspection findings including measurement, observations, photographs and maintains detailed records of the findings in the computer system and other internal programs. 3. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor performs inspection and verification of weldments as required. 4. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor performs verification of coating thickness and adhesion on skids, stairs, platforms, siding, etc. 5. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor performs Leak testing as needed. 6. The Building Mechanical Technician/Auditor performs Hydro Testing of piping per requirements, as needed. 7. Has basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 8. Initiates and generates Non-Conformance Material reports (NCMRs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs) as required. 9. Notifies applicable supervisor when inspection results exceed acceptable limits or when incidents of poor quality are noted. 10. Keep work areas clean and organized. 11. Works well with supervisors, leads, and other co-workers. 12. Reads and interprets customer specifications, written procedures, work instructions, product drawings/prints and safety guidelines. 13. Ensure calibration and maintenance has been performed on inspection, measuring and testing equipment. 14. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications Should have 5 + years of hands-on experience working in fabrication facility. Must be proficient and have computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient and have skills in basic metrology (precision measuring instruments). Must be proficient and capable of reading & understanding drawings/prints and specifications. Must be Capable of reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have experience with inspection of coating thickness and adhesion. Should have experience with hydro-testing and leak testing. Must have experience with welding inspection. Other Notable Skills Considered To Be A Plus Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts. Process auditing experience. Sense of urgency Attention to Detail Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education And Experience . High School Diploma or Equivalent Prefer at least 5 years' experience with quality inspection activities, fabrication, and/or machining experience including the use of metrology hand tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measures, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
