Job Description

Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support Serve as a leader, trainer, and mentor to Quality Process Technicians and newly hired team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Provide operational and technical support by acting as a backup to the Quality Supervisor when needed. Ensure adequate quality coverage during staffing shortages, vacations, or absences to maintain uninterrupted operations. Train production personnel on quality control procedures, GMP standards, and best practices to strengthen quality awareness across departments. Promote teamwork and collaboration between Quality, Production, and Maintenance departments to support efficient operations and product consistency. Process Monitoring & Product Quality Monitor and oversee all stages of the plastic manufacturing process, from raw material intake through final packaging, ensuring products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. Conduct routine visual inspections and in-process evaluations to identify defects, deviations, and inconsistencies, initiating corrective actions when necessary. Perform equipment and machinery checks to identify issues that may impact product quality, safety, or production efficiency. Collaborate with production teams to set up, adjust, and optimize manufacturing equipment to achieve target product specifications and process performance. Utilize precision measurement and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, and other quality instruments, to verify product dimensions and material properties. Support product holds, inspections, and release activities to ensure only conforming products proceed through the manufacturing process. Quality Systems, Documentation & Compliance Assist in developing, updating, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality-related documentation. Maintain accurate and organized inspection records, test data, and documentation related to product quality and process performance. Support compliance with
GMP, HACCP, SQF, ISO
standards, customer requirements, and other regulatory or company quality programs. Participate in internal audits, inspections, and quality reviews to ensure adherence to quality management systems and food safety standards. Promote and reinforce compliance with established quality systems, safety procedures, and company policies throughout the facility. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving Collect, review, and analyze process and product data to identify trends, process variation, and opportunities for operational improvement. Recommend process enhancements that improve product quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and overall manufacturing performance. Participate in root cause analysis investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence. Work with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects, operational initiatives, and new product development efforts. Support a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging proactive problem-solving and quality-driven decision-making. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in plastics technology, manufacturing, quality assurance, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance role within a food, pharmaceutical, plastics, or manufacturing environment. Proven experience in plastics manufacturing with strong knowledge of injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, or similar manufacturing processes. Proficient in the use of precision measurement and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, and related quality instruments. Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance requirements. Familiarity with quality management systems, ISO and/or SQF standards, and quality regulations related to plastics manufacturing. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect minor product defects, inconsistencies, and process deviations. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive approach to resolving quality-related issues. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. Proficiency in computer applications used for data entry, reporting, documentation, and quality record management. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production environment for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment up to 50 lbs. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely within a manufacturing environment. Ability to work in varying production conditions, including exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery. The Quality Process Technician Lead is responsible for supporting and overseeing quality-related activities throughout the manufacturing process to ensure products meet established quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a technical and operational resource for Quality Process Technicians and production personnel by providing leadership, training, guidance, and support related to quality systems, inspections, process monitoring, documentation practices, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Process Technician Lead works closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality leadership to monitor manufacturing operations, identify process deviations, assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions, and maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, SQF, customer, and company standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, supporting process optimization efforts, and ensuring quality expectations are consistently achieved throughout all stages of production. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
