Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under routine supervision of the Die Set Supervisor, maintain dies for stamping press, change and adjust dies as well as prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot die and jig tools.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and adjust dies and presses accurately and securely. Prepare dies and jig tools needed for the next production run in accordance with the production schedule and coordinate die changes. Inspect and maintain dies and jig tools by preparing inspection standards, completing check sheets for inspection, and checking the accuracy and deterioration extent of dies and jig tools in conformity with maintenance standards. Manufacture and repair parts for dies, jig tools, and equipment by machining parts using lathes, milling machines, and other tools. Maintain records of die maintenance details according to Inspection Standards. Analyze and appraise maintenance work by confirming the accuracy of products and operating systems. Maintain inventory for consumables utilizing purchase requisitions. Operate forklifts, hoists and slinging equipment during die changing and maintenance activities. The intent of this description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities preformed by incumbents of this job. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics Thorough knowledge of company philosophy, policies, and procedures related to safety, environmental protection, and quality control. Excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to read and understand structure and function drawings of dies and equipment. Ability to use gas welder, lathes, milling and drilling tools, as well as calipers and micrometers. Knowledge of hyrdraulic and air compressor equipment. Good verbal/written communication and math skills. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to reach above and below shoulder height. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Ability to perform all physical motions, i.e., twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and walking on uneven ground. Summary Education and Experience Required Experience with the setup and maintenance of dies to support metal stamping and forming operations, machine shop and welding experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Daily exposure to the extremes of temperature, noise, dust, and vibration of plant processing equipment, forklift traffic, and oily/wet production floors.
