About the role Job Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used in the manufacturing process. This role ensures that machines run efficiently, products meet quality standards, and safety protocols are followed. This job profile is intended for support staff that follows established procedures and works under close supervision. Smaller/easier decisions are made autonomously.
Summary:
Works under limited supervision, sets up and operates machine tools without assistance, following department policy and procedures. Manufactures and reconditions components parts to customer, OEM, and industry standards using conventions, machine tools, including VTL, lathes, milling machines, grinders, etc. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Constantly measures components, parts and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges and tools.
Essential Functions:
Sets up and operates conventional machine tools, under limited supervision. Plans sequence of own work operations and methods of set-up, including methods of mounting, leveling aligning, holding and fastening work. Interprets blueprints, charts, tables, handbook formulas, sketches, and written and verbal orders. Lays out work according to requirements. Selects and grinds own cutting tools. Works within close tolerances to meet customer/contract specifications and applies knowledge of qualities of metals and alloys being machined. Performs any bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications. Follow procedures according to
ISO 9001.
• Safety obligations: o All employees understand and are able to explain the structure and objectives of the SBP. o All employees follow the safety rules. o All employees have "the right and duty to intervene" in the event a safety concern becomes evident. In addition, acceptance of an intervention should be accepted in a positive manner as it could have prevented an accident. All employees are required to comply with all work instructions, policies, and posted signs or instructions regarding safety, including but not limited to proper use of required PPE at all times.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation. Maintains machine tools as required to keep machines in good operating condition. Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required. Provides information to allow a smooth transition for other coworkers to follow through with in-process work during or prior to a shift change as required. Assis other team members as directed, including training and assisting less experience coworkers. Works overtime as required. Participates in 5S and housekeeping assignments. Performs other duties as assigned.

None Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a machine shop operating all types of conventional machine tools including lathes, milling machine, boring machines, and drills. Ability to read and interpret standard and metric drawings and blueprints, applying knowledge of tool geometry, feeds, speed and basic math skills.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
