The Town of Secretary is currently seeking an apprentice to be responsible for the daily operation of the state-of-the-art, Class 5-A treatment facility in compliance with State and Federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of public service, be eager to develop technical expertise in the utilities sector, contribute to sustainable water management, and possess a desire to build a long-term career. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting wastewater treatment systems. You will learn essential skills related to water. and wastewater processes, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance while working alongside experienced professionals. The apprenticeship program is a 2-year paid on-the-job training program which includes completing coursework toward State licensing as a water/wastewater operator. Pay increases are commensurate with performance and quality of completed coursework.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Pass a standard physical exam Pass a standard drug test Ability to lift at least 50 pounds Ability to work in confined spaces Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong math skills/aptitude
