Job Description
Clarksburg Sanitary Board is seeking a motivated and dependable Wastewater Operator or a Wastewater Operator in Training (OIT) to join our Wastewater Treatment Plant. Starting pay for an Operator in Training is $22.70/hr. base wage, with additional compensation based on qualifications and certifications. Job Duties and Responsibilities The job duties and responsibilities listed below are those that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The City Manager may modify this description as needed to meet the requirements of this position.
- Work a forty (40) hour workweek, requiring shift work with a rotating schedule which includes call-out responsibilities and occasional weekend duties.
- Maintain and operate the solids building.
- Press and maintain the sludge press.
- Change chemical drums as needed.
- Read and record sludge, press, and chemical use data and logbooks.
- Maintain area grounds and the physical plant.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment.
- General cleaning of equipment, windows, floors, etc., and other tasks as assigned.
- Painting, mowing grass, trimming and removing shrubbery.
- Adjust processes as necessary and required.
- Ability to address the public tactfully and courteously, and to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, public officials, and the public.
- Perform related work duties as needed or assigned by supervisors or the City Manager.
- Perform all duties and functions following the policy and procedure set forth by the City of Clarksburg Employee Handbook. Required Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education/GED.
- Provide proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must possess and maintain a valid WV driver's license and be available for emergency response.
- Required to obtain a West Virginia Class I Wastewater Certification within 2 years upon hire. Failure to do so will result in termination.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
- Must be willing to obtain a Class B CDL license, if needed, and consent to a full and limited query through the FMCSA Clearinghouse with a "driver not prohibited" status.
- Required to pass a professionally administered DOT pre-employment drug & alcohol test, physical, background check, and random drug screenings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
