Welder (MIG) Job Description This role focuses on MIG welding and fabrication of agricultural and cultivation equipment, with an emphasis on fitting, blueprint interpretation, and working with thick steel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on thick steel components used in agricultural and cultivation equipment. Work as a welder/fitter, accurately fitting and assembling parts rather than only performing repetitive production welds. Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to ensure precise fabrication and assembly. Set up welding machines independently, including selecting appropriate settings and consumables. Adjust welding heat and parameters to achieve strong, high-quality welds on thick steel and hot welding applications. Measure and verify dimensions to maintain accuracy and adherence to specifications throughout the fabrication process. Operate fabrication equipment such as drills and presses to prepare and finish parts. Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks. Participate in a weld test to demonstrate skills and ensure alignment with quality standards. Contribute to the fabrication and welding of tractor parts and related components in a manufacturing setting. Support production needs by working additional hours, including Saturdays when required to address backorders. Essential Skills Proficiency in MIG welding, including hot welding on thick steel. Experience as a welder/fitter, with strong fitting and assembly skills beyond basic production welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately. Capability to set up welding machines independently and adjust heat and other parameters as needed. Strong measurement skills to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications. Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs safely. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with agricultural and tractor parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating fabrication equipment such as drills and presses. Experience in welding and fabricating components for agricultural or cultivation equipment. The environment involves working with thick steel, hot welding, and fabrication equipment such as drills and presses.
