Welder Job Description This position focuses on performing high-quality welding on custom parts in a dynamic job shop environment. You will primarily use MIG welding on mild steel, with some work on stainless steel and aluminum. Using blueprints and technical drawings, you will produce precise welds to specification and may also assist with assembling parts and products prior to welding. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on custom parts, primarily using mild steel, with occasional stainless steel and aluminum work. Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings to complete welds to exact specifications. Set up welding equipment and workstations to ensure safe and efficient operation. Inspect materials and welded components to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements. Essential Skills At least 1 year of MIG welding experience or a technical degree in welding. Ability to perform MIG welding on mild steel, with exposure to stainless steel and aluminum. Minimum of 6 months of blueprint reading experience gained on the job or in school. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with fabrication machines such as cutting, forming, or machining equipment. Previous job shop experience working on custom or one-off parts. Technical education or formal training in welding processes and safety. Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with assembly of metal components. Why Work Here? The environment is a true job shop, with custom work and varying projects that can make the shop relatively dirty at times. You will work with welding equipment and fabrication tools in a hands-on, production-focused setting. Jeans and steel-toe boots are required attire to support safety and durability in the shop Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodhue, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
