Ben's Structural Fabrication Inc., a Maine-based structural steel and metal fabrication contractor, is seeking a Welder / Fabricator to join our hands-on team. In this role, you'll fabricate and weld structural steel, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals in our shop and assist with on-site installations across New England. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, fitting and assembling components, performing quality welds, and maintaining a safe, organized work area. Responsibilities Perform MIG, stick, and flux-core welding on structural steel and miscellaneous metals Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication details Fit, layout, and assemble beams, columns, stairs, railings, and custom metalwork Operate fabrication equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, and welders Assist with loading, rigging, and on-site installation of steel components Inspect welds and fabricated parts for quality, accuracy, and safety compliance Follow all shop and field safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area Collaborate with foremen and team members to meet project deadlines and specifications Perform basic maintenance on welding and fabrication tools and equipment Required Skills MIG welding Stick welding (SMAW) Flux-core welding (FCAW) Blueprint and shop drawing reading Steel fabrication and fit-up Use of fabrication tools (saws, drills, grinders) Operation of overhead cranes and rigging Layout and measurement for structural steel Field installation of stairs, railings, and misc. metals Basic oxy-fuel cutting
