Job Description
Welder/Fabricator — Fairfield, OH Mendenhall Technical Services, Inc. (MTSI) builds precision fabricated and welded assemblies for both aerospace/defense and industrial customers — tight-tolerance weldments and components that don't leave room for shortcuts. We hold every job to AS9100 aerospace quality standards, even on our industrial work, so the same precision applies across the board. We're looking for a Welder/Fabricator who knows their way around a TIG torch and a set of prints, and who wants to put that skill to work on parts that actually matter. We prefer candidates with solid TIG welding experience, but we're also open to a hard-working individual willing to learn and grow their skills on the job. This is a direct-hire position (90-day probationary period), Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM (40 hours/week), with some overtime as needed. Pay is based on experience. What You'll Be Doing Fabricating, welding, and assembling components and assemblies to tight tolerances, working closely with our engineering and design teams TIG welding stainless, carbon steel, aluminum, and similar materials (pre-employment weld test required: 6G stainless pipe, 3G vertical-up aluminum plate) Pipe welding and mechanical assembly — torquing fasteners, bending tube runs, swaging fittings Reading and working from engineering drawings using GD&T, following weld symbols and procedures Planning your own sequence of operations, laying out work, and using precision measuring devices to hold spec Operating a vertical mill, horizontal lathe, band saw, drill press, and standard hand tools Working within AS9100 quality and aerospace requirements Role is roughly 50% welding, 50% assembly and prep. What You Bring Minimum two years' welding, fabrication, and assembly experience — or a recent graduate of a welding program with a strong mechanical background Ability to interpret engineering drawings and hold tight tolerances on weldments and fabrications without hand-holding Strong math and mechanical aptitude Knowledge of industry-standard safe practices Solid communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, managing multiple tasks at once Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs Own set of standard hand tools (MTSI provides machines, specialty tooling, and PPE) Why MTSI Work on precision aerospace/defense and industrial hardware, not commodity fabrication Stable, direct-hire position with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule A team that takes quality seriously and expects the same from the people we hire MTSI is an
