Full Job Description Experience Requirements:
Employee must have completed an accredited training program as it applies to the specific trade or have received credit through minimum of five (5) years documented experience.
Purpose:
1. Weld metal components together by means of multiple welding procedures, fabricating metal shapes or articles and to repair broken or cracked metal objects. Set up pre-fit parts for welding with the use of hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures working from specifications, drawings, prints, or welding symbols. May cut metal with a cutting torch or plasma cutter. Works on a variety of metals and alloys. May require certification or other work involving critical safety and load requirements. May select electrodes, tips and rods in accordance with welding process specified. 2. Fabricates, assembles, alters, and repairs standardized sheet metal and structural steel articles. Lays out job, working from blueprints, specifications, templates and/or patterns. Cuts, trims, forms, shape and assemble parts, using various sheet metal and structural steel fabricating machines and hand tools. Must be able to set up and operate equipment required to perform job functions, such as flanges, drill presses, punch presses, hand riveters, spot welders, grinding wheels, beveling machines, etc. 3. Focus on internal and external customer quality. 4. Carry out multiple responsibilities as an active member of the production group.
Tasks:
Perform one or more of the following technical duties as assigned: 1. Work from specifications, drawings, prints and welding symbols. 2. Obtain certification for multiple welding process i.e.
MIG, TIG, FCAW
per ASME and AWS code requirements. 3. Fabricate metal shapes or articles or repair broken or cracked metal objects. 4. Set up pre-fitted parts for welding using hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures. 5. Use cutting torch and plasma cutting machines. 6. Be able to use a lathe and other millwork equipment. 7. Fabricate, assemble, alter, and repair standardized sheet metal and structural steel articles. 8. Lay out own work from start to finish including cutting own parts and final welding. 9. Operate all associated equipment to perform job functions. 10. Perform activities in accordance with all technical instructions, documents and Company procedures. This includes following, maintaining and supporting standards established for housekeeping and safety and understanding and applying standard practices as outlined in Company's and Manufacturer's recommendations. 11. Handle material in a way that demonstrates respect for its value and follow Company procedures that relate to the accurate maintenance of material. 12. Actively participate in training and individual development activities. 13. Demonstrate flexibility through the participation in cross training and acceptance of new tasks and responsibilities. 14. Responsible for care and maintenance of personal and Company tools and equipment. 15. Understand and be aware of production schedules and actively contribute to the successful attainment of the established targets. 16. Continuously monitor processes utilized in performance of duties with the view of proposing improvements aimed at performing the process faster, more consistently within due dates, with fewer defects, and at a lower cost. 17. Understand, follow and support Company policies regarding conduct, security and Company representation.
Expected Skills & Training:
1. Successful completion of education requirements. 2. Knowledge of how the product or component that is being worked on relates to end product that is being used by the customer. 3. Ability to operate and maintain shop equipment. 4. Ability to interpret, apply and document information. 5. Knowledge of certification and documentation requirements to include applicable codes or specifications. 6. Good communication skills. 7. Be aware of and follow Company Instruction, Company Policies & Procedures, and ISO systems under which the Company is registered.
Working Environment:
The incumbent for this position must be able to perform the functions of this job requiring the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 15% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
