Pressure Vessel Welder (Code Shop)

Position Type:

Full-Time, Hourly (Pay based on experience)

Shift:

6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Includes two 15-min paid breaks & one 30-min lunch) Job Overview Boardman is seeking skilled, precision-driven Pressure Vessel Welders to join our fabrication team in Oklahoma City. In this role, you aren't just laying down production welds—you are building highly engineered, custom pressure vessels that meet strict standards. If you take pride in flawless bead aesthetics, high X-ray pass rates, and working with complex alloys, we want you on our floor. What You'll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities) Code-Compliant Multi-Process Welding

•

Execute Code Welds:

Perform high-quality structural and pressure boundary welds compliant with ASME Section

VIII & IX

standards.

•

Utilize Diverse Processes:

Safely and efficiently operate GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment based on job requirements.

•

Heavy Thermal Cutting:

Perform carbon arc gouging for weld back-gouging, and skillfully operate plasma cutters and oxy-fuel torches for material preparation. Blueprint Reading & Technical Execution

•

Interpret Layouts:

Read and fully interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, fabrication notes, and non-destructive examination (NDE) symbols.

•

Follow Welding Procedures:

Strictly adhere to company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), ensuring exact parameters are met for every joint.

•

Consumable Control:

Independently verify and select the correct welding filler materials, wires, and fluxes required for each specific base metal alloy. Quality Control & Self-Inspection

•

First-Line Inspection:

Visually inspect your own work for proper weld size, profile, and potential defects (such as porosity, undercut, or lack of fusion) prior to NDE testing.

•

Traceability:

Apply identification stamps to welds as required by code.

•

Safety First:

Follow all facility safety rules, maintain a clean workspace, and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE). Our Shop Materials & Environment At Boardman, you will get to work on a massive variety of metals, expanding your skills far beyond basic carbon steel:

•

Carbon Steels:

P1 Materials.

•

Stainless Steels:

304, 304H, 316, 347.

•

Exotic Alloys:

CrMo Alloy, Monel 400, and Inconel.

•

Shop Assets:

Our facility is outfitted with heavy-duty turning rolls, vessel positioners, overhead cranes, and modern multi-process power sources. Qualifications

•

Experience:

Proven experience welding pressure vessels, heavy industrial piping, or heavy structural steel in code environments (ASME preferred).

•

The Weld Test:

Must be able to pass a pre-employment weld test to demonstrate proficiency in our core processes.

• SAW experience preferred

• Experience with automated weld overlay and bore cladding machine controlled by a standard

ARC 5 PLC

system is highly desirable.

•

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing shop environment, standing, bending, and lifting up to 60 lbs.

•

Screening:
