- 4:30 PM Overtime and occasional weekends as needed Job Summary We are seeking skilled and motivated Fitter/Welders to join our fabrication team.
This position is responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding components used in the manufacturing of process equipment and vessels. Candidates may be considered for Level I, II, or III positions depending on experience, skill level, and welding qualifications. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, performing layout and fit-up work, and producing high-quality welds while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Fit, assemble, and weld fabricated components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Clamp, hold, tack weld, grind, and bolt components into position for welding. Analyze blueprints and fabrication drawings to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Perform layout and fit-up of vessel shells, heads, nozzles, supports, couplings, and structural components. Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements. Develop templates and layouts using mathematical calculations and blueprint information. Measure completed workpieces to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Prepare materials for welding through grinding, cleaning, beveling, alignment, and fit-up.
Perform welding processes including:
GMAW (MIG) FCAW (Flux Core) GTAW (TIG) when required Inspect workpieces and welds for defects and dimensional accuracy. Remove rough spots and finish components using grinders, hand tools, and fabrication equipment. Complete production and quality documentation accurately and timely. Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and material-handling equipment when authorized. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety policies, welding procedures, and quality standards. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. Strong math and measurement skills. Ability to use levels, tape measures, protractors, squares, straightedges, and other measuring tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Preferred Technical degree or vocational certificate in Welding. Experience with vessel fabrication, structural fabrication, or industrial manufacturing. Forklift and crane operation experience. Experience Levels Level I 1+ year of welding and fabrication experience. Ability to pass applicable welding tests for MIG and Flux Core processes. Level II 2 to 4 years of welding and fabrication experience. Ability to pass applicable welding tests for TIG, MIG, and Flux Core processes. Level III 3 to 5+ years of advanced fabrication and welding experience. Experience fitting and welding large vessels or complex fabricated assemblies. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience mentoring or assisting less-experienced welders is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, climbing, and working around large fabricated components. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. Pre-Employment Requirements Pass a background check (non-violent offenses considered). Pass a full-panel drug screen.
