Sand Springs, OK Job Details Full-time 10 hours ago Qualifications AutoCAD Mechanical blueprint interpretation Blueprint specification interpretation Component installation Metal materials Shop math Cutting torches Manufacturing Confined space entry safety procedures Oxy-fuel welding Full Job Description Fitters are required to be safety minded, highly productive experts who can cut, fit, and tack weld all parts of heat exchangers, vessels, and towers. Wear proper PPE at all times on shop floor and follow all safety protocols and procedures Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure specifications and dimensions are met Fit and assemble metal components of shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels and/or towers Perform thermal cutting using an oxyfuel cutting torch and/or a Plas-Arc machine Perform tack welding Maintain less than a 5% fit up rejection rate Complete assigned work within given time frame and according to specifications Perform other job responsibilities as assigned, which may include performing basic tasks when such a need arises Knowledge, skills and abilities High school diploma or equivalent Must be a highly safety-oriented individual Minimum 5 years' experience fitting pressure vessels or heat exchangers Extensive knowledge of fitting metal components to set standards and codes in the assembly and manufacturing of various types of pressure vessels and heat exchangers Extensive knowledge and experience of thermal cutting and welding processes Ability to read AutoCAD prints for both required specifications as well as dimensions Ability to proficiently operate oxy/fuel cutting torch and Plas-Arc machine Ability to tack weld per code and within weld procedure requirements Above average Math skills required, as well as an understanding of Geometry Ability to be a self-motivated leader who requires minimal supervision and who can safely execute a plan to make jobs happen on time within the hours given Ability to be a team player who can work well with others to achieve company goals Ability to be punctual and dependent with a willingness to work hours outside of a standard schedule when required to achieve a task or complete a project Must consistently maintain less than a 5% fit up rejection rate Physical requirements This position will be exposed to welding fumes and gases, and dust from grinder: use of PPE imperative. Work area is not climate controlled so extreme heat/cold may be experienced. Must be able to safely lift fifty pounds Ability to work in a shop environment in all seasons Ability to safely enter into and work productively in confined spaces of an exchanger or vessel Ability to safely tie off and work from elevated heights on top of exchanger or vessel
