Local travel and attendance at community meetings, project kickoffs, and public events required Position Summary We are seeking a strong communicator and relationship-builder to serve as a Community Liaison supporting an infrastructure project in the Lafayette, Indiana area. The Community Liaison will serve as a local representative supporting the project's community outreach efforts. The primary responsibility will be to engage with residents and community stakeholders, listen to concerns, communicate project information clearly, and help proactively reduce concerns or resistance related to project activities and create project slide decks and information material. Training and project-specific information will be provided. The ideal candidate is comfortable speaking with the public, navigating difficult conversations, building trust, and professionally representing the project within the community. Primary Responsibilities Serve as a community-facing representative for the project team. Attend community meetings, public events, project kickoffs, and other stakeholder engagements. Build positive relationships with residents and local stakeholders. Listen to and document community questions, concerns, and feedback. Clearly communicate project information and the community-engagement strategy developed by the project team. Help proactively address community concerns and reduce anxiety or resistance surrounding project activities. Present information and speak during meetings when needed. Identify emerging community concerns and communicate them to the project team before they escalate. Take detailed notes during meetings and community interactions. Prepare concise summaries and reports regarding community feedback, concerns, meetings, and follow-up items. Coordinate with project leadership regarding outreach activities and required follow-up. Maintain professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive community issues. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Is an excellent verbal communicator and active listener. Is comfortable speaking with individuals, groups, and community leaders. Can remain calm and professional during difficult or emotional conversations. Has strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Can communicate information without becoming argumentative or defensive. Is organized and capable of documenting meetings and producing clear written summaries. Can professionally represent a project or organization in public settings. Understands how to build trust within a community. Is comfortable working independently while following a broader communication strategy. Has reliable transportation and the ability to attend meetings and events in the Lafayette area. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial: Community outreach or community engagement Public relations Customer or constituent relations Local government or community organizations Public-facing utility or infrastructure projects Conflict resolution Stakeholder engagement Communications Social services or community-based work Solar or infrastructure experience is helpful. Project Expectations The position is currently anticipated to require approximately 20 hours per week. The amount of time requiring physical presence in Lafayette is still being finalized, but the position will require attendance at certain meetings, project kickoffs, community events, and other in-person activities. What Success Looks Like Success in this position is not simply attending meetings. The right person will become a trusted bridge between the project team and the community—helping residents feel heard, identifying concerns early, communicating accurate information, and helping the project team maintain productive relationships throughout the life of the project.

Pay:

$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
