Director of Programs and Community Engagement Valley Forge Park Alliance Position Summary The Valley Forge Park Alliance (VFPA) seeks an energetic, strategic, and mission-driven Director of Programs & Community Engagement to lead the development, management, and growth of programs that connect people to Valley Forge National Historical Park. Valley Forge National Historical Park welcomes visitors from across the region and around the country, and VFPA plays an important role in connecting those visitors and the surrounding community with the park's history, resources, and mission. The Director of Programs & Community Engagement will have the opportunity to shape how people experience and engage with Valley Forge. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys creating meaningful experiences, building relationships, mobilizing volunteers, and turning ideas into programs that have a visible impact. Reports To Executive Director Employment Status Full time- hybrid Estimated 40 hours per week, with occasional evenings and weekends required for events and programs. What You Will Own VFPA's annual program and event calendar. Development and implementation of new and existing visitor, educational, recreational, cultural, and community programs. Program budgets, logistics, vendors, speakers, registrations, and execution. Volunteer recruitment, engagement, coordination, and recognition in partnership with the National Park Service. Community partnerships with schools, nonprofits, businesses, civic organizations, and other stakeholders. Strategies that turn program participants and volunteers into Alliance members, donors, and long-term supporters. Program evaluation, participation tracking, and reporting to Alliance leadership and the Board. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit programming, community engagement, events, volunteer management, education, parks, museums, cultural organizations, or a related field. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with volunteers and stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and common digital communication platforms. Preferred Experience working in nonprofit organizations, parks, museums, educational institutions, or community organizations. Experience recruiting and managing volunteers. Familiarity with fundraising, sponsorship development, or membership programs. Familiarity with Valley Forge National Historical Park, American history, conservation, outdoor recreation, or public lands. Knowledge of local history, conservation, outdoor recreation, or National Park Service programs. Increase attendance and participation in Alliance programs. Coordinate with the NPS to manage and grow the volunteer program. Contribute to membership growth through program engagement. Strengthen partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders. Establish consistent program evaluation and reporting processes. Enhance public awareness of the Alliance and its mission. Compensation $55,000-$65,000 Benefits are negotiable.
