SCHOOL OF ART DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST POSITION OVERVIEW
The Digital Communications Specialist strengthens Crealdé School of Art's digital presence and engagement with students, members, donors, and the broader community. This hands-on role manages Crealdé's primary digital communications channels, including social media, Mailchimp, and the website, with a strong emphasis on content creation. The Digital Communications Specialist proactively identifies stories and opportunities across Crealdé School of Art and the Hannibal Square Heritage Center and creates the written, photographic, video, and graphic content needed to share them with our audiences. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with faculty, students, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent work experience; at least two years of relevant experience preferred. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Experience managing organizational social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram, and creating photography, reels, and short-form video. Experience with Mailchimp or a comparable email marketing platform and website content management; WordPress preferred. Working knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, and digital performance metrics. Graphic design skills using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop. Strong organizational and project management skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently. Interest in the arts, arts education, and community-based organizations strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CONTENT CREATION
Proactively identify and develop stories about Crealdé's students, instructors, artists, exhibitions, classes, and community programs. Create written, photographic, video, and graphic content for Crealdé's digital platforms, including regularly capturing photography and short-form video on campus and at selected events and programs.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Manage Crealdé's social media presence, including Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms. Maintain a consistent content calendar and posting schedule; create and publish posts, reels, stories, and other content; engage with online audiences; and monitor performance.
EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS
Manage Crealdé's Mailchimp account and produce the weekly email newsletter and other targeted communications for exhibitions, events, classes, and programs. Create written and visual content, maintain audience lists and templates, and monitor email performance.
WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
Maintain and update Crealdé's website to ensure information about exhibitions, events, and organizational activities is accurate and up to date. Create and update pages and content as needed, apply SEO best practices, and monitor website traffic and engagement.
COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING
Maintain a digital communications calendar encompassing social media, email, website content, exhibitions, events, classes, and organizational priorities. Coordinate with staff to gather information and ensure communications are accurate, timely, and consistent.
COMMUNITY CALENDARS & LISTINGS
Submit and maintain Crealdé's exhibitions, events, and programs on external community calendars and partner websites, including United Arts of Central Florida, Florida Humanities, the City of Winter Park, and other relevant arts, cultural, tourism, and community platforms. Identify additional listing opportunities and ensure information is submitted accurately and on time.
DIGITAL ANALYTICS
Track social media engagement and audience growth, email performance, and website traffic. Use data to identify opportunities to strengthen content and digital engagement.
BRAND & DIGITAL ASSETS
Ensure communications are consistent with Crealdé's established brand identity and organizational voice. Maintain an organized library of photography, video, graphics, and other digital assets.
HANNIBAL SQUARE HERITAGE CENTER
Ensure the Hannibal Square Heritage Center and its exhibitions, programs, history, and community engagement are appropriately and consistently represented across Crealdé's digital communications and relevant external platforms.
TIME COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION
This is a part-time hourly position of approximately 20-25 hours per week. The Executive Director will establish the schedule in coordination with the candidate. Attendance at all events and exhibition openings, team meetings, the Annual Membership Meeting, and occasional Board of Directors meetings is required.
