ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Office of Communications shares the story of Shawnee State University through strategic internal and external communications, digital content, creative services, and brand stewardship. The office partners with departments across campus to communicate the University's mission, celebrate its people and achievements, and ensure a consistent and engaging institutional voice.
POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shawnee State University Office of Communications is seeking creative, motivated student interns to support content development across several areas of our team. Interns will work on real projects that help represent Shawnee State through social media, websites, graphics, video, and campus storytelling. Positions are available in web & digital content, social media & video, graphic design, and copywriting. Interns will collaborate with professional staff, gain hands-on experience, build their portfolios, and contribute to work seen by students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
Required:
Strong interest in marketing, communications, digital media, or related fields Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Good communication and collaboration skills Basic familiarity with one or more areas (web editing, social media, design, video, or writing) Willingness to learn new tools and processes Preferred (varies by role): Experience with a CMS or website editing Filming and basic editing (Premiere, CapCut, or similar) Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva experience Strong writing, grammar, and storytelling skills Minimum Qualifications Registered full-time SSU student Eligible to work in the United States Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms Follow SSU dress code policy
