Due to continued growth, we are looking to add an IT Field Technician / Security Systems Technician to our White Plains, NY team. In this role, you will work directly with our engineering, service, and project teams to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support complex technology systems for commercial customers. The position involves advanced troubleshooting, field service, maintenance, upgrades, commissioning, and customer interaction. Systems supported may include IP camera/video surveillance systems, access control systems, intercom systems, network infrastructure and PoE devices, servers and virtual environments, and integrated security platforms. Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, the ability to work independently in the field, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled on-site service visits at commercial client facilities. Troubleshoot and support IP cameras, access control systems, intercoms, servers, switches, and related infrastructure. Perform system diagnostics, maintenance, firmware updates, and preventative service. Execute and verify system backups for servers, databases, and security platforms. Audit and document system health, device connectivity, and network performance. Maintain accurate records including IP addressing, inventory, firmware versions, and network documentation. Support installations, upgrades, migrations, and commissioning activities. Troubleshoot PoE devices, switch connectivity, VLANs, and network communication issues. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, programmers, and other technicians to resolve issues efficiently. Accurately document work performed within the service management platform. Communicate professionally with customers and maintain strong customer relationships. Lead technical efforts in the field and mentor junior team members when needed. Participate in after-hours or emergency support when required.Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in IT, low-voltage systems, electronic security, or a related technical field. Extensive experience working with commercial electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, intercom, and integrated security platforms. Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals. Strong experience with PoE switches, IP devices, VLANs, and network troubleshooting. Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and server environments. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision. Ability to lead technical efforts and assist less experienced technicians when needed. Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other database platforms. Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualized environments. Experience with structured cabling and low-voltage systems. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certifications, or manufacturer certifications. Experience supporting enterprise or commercial environments. The wage for this role is $30.00 to $50.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
