Underground Cable Construction Technician /

Laborer Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Underground Cable Construction Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility cable systems. This role involves trenching, conduit installation, cable pulling, site restoration, and operating construction equipment in support of telecommunications, or fiber optic infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate works well outdoors in varying weather conditions, follows safety procedures, and collaborates effectively with crew members to complete projects on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Install underground conduit, duct banks, vaults, and utility cable systems Perform trenching, excavation, backfilling, and site preparation Pull, place, and secure underground electrical or communication cables Operate construction equipment such as mini excavators, trenchers, skid steers, and compactors Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and construction plans Locate and identify existing underground utilities before excavation Assist with directional boring and conduit placement operations Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company standards Perform hand digging around sensitive utilities when required Restore work areas including asphalt, concrete, and landscaping repairs Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance

Required:

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds regularly
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Basic understanding of construction safety practices

Preferred:

• Experience in underground utility, electrical, telecom, or fiber construction
• Experience operating heavy equipment
• Knowledge of utility locating procedures
• Experience with directional drilling or boring equipment
