Job description This job description outlines the role of a nurse practitioner (NP) who is responsible for providing primary and wellness care to patients, working under both administrative and clinical supervision. Key duties include obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, managing both acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications, educating patients on health practices, and collaborating with a medical physician and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients. The role emphasizes both the clinical and administrative aspects, including educating patients, maintaining medical records, and participating in interdisciplinary care. It requires the NP to work within an approved scope of practice and follow established guidelines and protocols, ensuring patient safety and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical care (diagnosis, treatment, prescribing medications). Manage patient care and collaborate with other health professionals. Participate in patient education, health promotion, and preventive care. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain professional development and contribute to clinic improvement programs.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
RN license in Wisconsin and completion of a nurse practitioner program. Clinical experience and, for new graduates, an internship. Master's degree preferred, with additional certifications for prescribing authority.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to assess patients and contribute to care planning. Knowledge of clinical standards and the ability to engage in quality improvement activities.
Physical Demands:
