Job Title:
Order Picker / Electric Pallet Jack Operator Job Description This role focuses on accurately picking, staging, and preparing food and beverage ingredient orders in a brand-new distribution warehouse using electric pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment. You will help ensure inventory accuracy, maintain high quality and customer service standards, and support safe and efficient warehouse operations. 1st. shift - 7am to 3:30pm (overtime during the week and saturdays when needed) Responsibilities Operate electric pallet jack (EPJ) and other powered forklifts safely and efficiently to move, load, and unload materials. Pick orders accurately based on pick tickets, including item number, size, quantity, and other specifications. Use RF scanning equipment to track, verify, and maintain accurate inventory records. Manage pick ticket orders from start to finish, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Pull warehouse items from shelves and storage locations according to order requirements. Verify that all orders are correct before staging them for delivery or shipment. Pick, wrap, palletize, and stage orders to be shipped in an organized and timely manner. Stage items correctly in designated areas for outbound delivery or further processing. Read and interpret incoming order requests and follow instructions precisely. Adhere to established quality standards and customer service expectations throughout the picking and staging process. Inspect forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment before use and perform basic maintenance checks. Identify, report, and help address safety hazards in the workplace in line with OSHA and company safety standards. Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods to optimize storage and warehouse space. Handle general material-handling tasks such as loading, unloading, stacking, and organizing pallets and products. Perform other warehouse duties as needed to support overall operations. Essential Skills Minimum 1+ years of experience operating powered forklifts and various material-handling equipment, including electric pallet jacks. Proficiency with RF scanning equipment for inventory management and order picking. Demonstrated experience in order picking, loading, unloading, palletizing, and stacking in a warehouse environment. Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safe material-handling practices. High regard for workplace safety and consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. Proficient math skills to verify counts, quantities, and inventory data. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, staging, and documentation of orders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a distribution warehouse environment, ideally with food and beverage ingredients or similar products. Comfort working around spices and coconut water, including being okay with a persistent spice smell in the facility. Ability to read and follow written order requests, pick tickets, and standard operating procedures. Reliable, punctual, and able to work a consistent Monday-Friday daytime schedule. Work Environment This position is based in a brand-new distribution warehouse in Mickleton, NJ that handles spices and coconut water; while nothing is manufactured on-site, there is a noticeable spice smell, and you should be comfortable working in this environment. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The building is not temperature controlled, so conditions will vary with the seasons. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times. The dress code includes steel-toe boots, work pants, and a plain top with either long or short sleeves and no graphics or writing; sweatshirts, hoods, and strings are not permitted. The facility uses powered forklifts, electric pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other standard warehouse material-handling equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mickleton, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
