Job Description Core Fiber Partners is seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Technician II or III to support the construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our fiber optic network. This role is a hands-on field position working on aerial, underground, and fiber-optic infrastructure projects. The level (II or III) will be determined based on experience, skills, and demonstrated leadership capability. OSP Technicians play a critical role in building high-quality fiber networks while maintaining strict safety, quality, and documentation standards. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Perform aerial and underground fiber construction, installation, and repair work Install conduit, cable, anchors, guying, and related OSP infrastructure Conduct fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting using fusion splicers, OTDR, and power meters Operate field equipment and tools (directional drills, trenchers, excavators), independently or under supervision depending on level Read and follow construction prints, engineering plans, and work orders Maintain accurate job documentation, as-builts, photo logs, and redlines Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles; perform inspections and basic maintenance Ensure compliance with safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company standards Respond to emergency repairs, outages, or priority work as needed
For OSP Technician III:
lead complex builds, mentor junior technicians, and support higher-level troubleshooting and project coordination
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Experience working with fiber optic, aerial, or underground plant construction Knowledge of fiber splicing, testing, and basic troubleshooting practices Ability to safely operate field tools and equipment appropriate to skill level Ability to read construction drawings and follow technical instructions Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions Valid driver's license and clean driving record High school diploma or equivalent Additional Qualifications for
Technician III:
Advanced experience with backbone/mainline builds and complex projects Ability to work independently and solve complex field issues Experience leading or mentoring other technicians Proficiency operating heavy equipment without supervision

$44,402.00 - $67,158.00 per year
