Patient Access Supervisor Non-Nursing Supports Fremont, California Description
Salary Range:
$31.58 - $44.21
Position Summary:
The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Patient Access team under the guidance of the Patient Access Manager. The Supervisor is responsible for assigning tasks to the staff and ensuring timely and accurate completion. They must ensure that patient registration and appointment processes are accurate and efficient while providing an excellent level of customer service. The Supervisor is also responsible for addressing patient escalations and resolving any issues that may arise. They are also responsible for creating policies, enforcing procedures, and managing the training and orientation of new staff. As a supervisor, your main responsibilities will include: Overseeing and developing an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance, and resources. Ensuring adequate staffing and coverage in all patient access areas. Determining staff qualifications and competency: recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, training, orienting, mentoring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and rewarding. Implementing, communicating, and adhering to department procedures and policies. Overseeing daily operational activities of all Patient Access areas, including registration, scheduling, admitting, ED, and other patient access functions as assigned. Developing, arranging, and implementing staff schedules for maximum efficient and effective coverage, and serving as a backup for coverage if needed. Ensuring customer satisfaction through effective problem solving, promoting and maintaining open communication with all patients, staff members, and clinical personnel, and acting on patient's behalf in receiving prompt, efficient and courteous service. Reporting key factors of productivity, and appropriate analysis to manager on a periodic basis, and alerting manager of issues both internal and external, which may impact performance. Maintaining knowledge and training staff on admissions documentation requirements, insurance/managed care plan requirements for referrals/authorization, patient financial responsibilities, and payment collection. Working with Patient Financial Services to assure compliance with all federal and state regulations while maximizing collectability of patient accounts. Guiding staff in the resolution of patient complaints and problems, and serving as a resource for call escalation and resolution.
Required Skills:
Demonstrates strong leadership through team building, coaching, and mentoring, with the ability to motivate and engage others while providing constructive, timely feedback to support team growth and continuous improvement. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while delivering quality service and achieving business results. Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing business priorities. Ability to work concurrently on various tasks and projects in an environment that may have competing priorities, high volume, and individuals with diverse personalities and work styles. Expertise in registration and scheduling processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Solid understanding of medical terminology and insurance.
Educational Requirements:
High school graduate required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Three to five years of experience in a medical or hospital-based clinic is required, and registration background is preferred. Epic background is helpful.
