Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Peer Support Specialist and become a vital advocate for individuals navigating behavioral health challenges. Duties Offer peer-led support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivation. Assist clients in developing coping strategies through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques. Conduct behavioral health assessments and provide mental health counseling to address individual needs. Utilize motivational interviewing skills to encourage positive behavioral changes and goal setting. Collaborate with clinical teams using electronic health record (EHR) systems to document progress and coordinate care plans. Mentor clients through addiction counseling, social work resources, and community engagement activities. Respond promptly to crises, ensuring safety while connecting clients with appropriate emergency or ongoing support services. Qualifications Lived experience with mental health recovery or substance use challenges, demonstrating resilience and insight. Knowledge of crisis intervention and crisis management principles essential for supporting individuals in distress. Background in behavioral health, mental health counseling, social work, or related fields preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and empower others through motivational interviewing techniques. Experience with addiction counseling or mentoring is a plus. Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and care coordination. Certification in crisis intervention or related areas is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.
