El Cerrito, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $40 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications Behavior management Teamwork Employee relationship building Schedule management Training Classroom Teaching Full Job Description Contra Costa Civic Theatre Education (a division of Contra Costa Civic Theatre, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) is looking for passionate, kind, and experienced Choreographers for our education classes and productions! Currently, CCCT Education offers classes and production opportunities for ages 5-19. Schedules vary per class, but generally fall in the after school range on weekdays or weekends and are between 1-3 times per week for 45 minutes to 3 hours per class, plus paid prep time as needed. Currently, we are especially interested in candidates available Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00 PM, Fridays from 4:00-5:30 PM, and/or Sundays from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. All classes take place on site at Contra Costa Civic Theatre in El Cerrito (about 5 minutes north of Berkeley).

Job Description:

The Choreographer is responsible for creating and teaching age appropriate dances to actors, ensuring cohesion with blocking and that the choreography supports the overall artistic vision. This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position, located on-site at CCCT.

Responsibilities Overview:

Choreographer duties include but are not limited to: Attend auditions, production meetings, rehearsals, and performances. Lead and conduct all scheduled choreography rehearsals. Create and teach original, age-appropriate choreography that supports the production while challenging performers to develop their skills and deliver polished performances. Work collaboratively with the Director and designers to ensure that the choreography is cohesive with the vision for the production. Communicate with the Director and Stage Manager (when applicable) about time needs for numbers, polishing, and all other choreography needs. Work collaboratively to establish a schedule that works for all creative team members and performers. Plan and lead choreography rehearsals efficiently within the rehearsal schedule. Maintain classroom management; ensure all performers are participating and behaving in a safe manner. Maintain all spaces used during rehearsals. Close up after class using the "closing up" checklist. Ensure all lights are off and all doors are locked. Proactively communicate any student issues, staff issues, and supply needs with the Director and Director of Education. Record and send out videos of the choreography in a timely manner so that performers can practice at home. The Choreographer may also delegate someone else to record and send out dances when appropriate. Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence, teamwork, creativity, and personal growth.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have: 3+ years experience working with youth 3+ years experience in theatre and/or dance Formal dance training Excellent classroom management skills Eagerness to collaborate and maintain positive working relationships

Salary:

This is a part-time, hourly position. The hourly salary range for this position is $25.00-$40.00.

Pay:

$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
