Contract type Full-Time Location New York, NY Specialty Fashion Salary $110K-$120K DUE Remote No Reference 509009 Job descriptionOUR CLIENT IS SEEKING A STRONG PLANNING MANAGER COMING FROM PRIVATE LABEL APPAREL AND WORKING WITH BIG BOX AND MASS RETAILERS CURRENTLY. MUST BE BASED IN NYC AND CURRENTLY A PLANNING MANAGER IN THE APPAREL INDUSTRY.
Job Summary As the Planning Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in powering one of our most important retail partnerships by driving accurate demand forecasts, optimizing inventory levels, and shaping business results for this significant national account. You'll collaborate closely with merchandising, sales, and cross-functional partners to unlock growth opportunities, champion smart inventory strategies, and ensure exceptional in stock performance. In this dynamic role, you'll blend analytical expertise with strategic thinking to support new product launches, guide lifecycle decisions, and fuel profitable, customer focused outcomes across the Walmart business. Key Responsibilities Forecasting & Demand Planning- Develop and maintain detailed SKU-level forecasts that balance healthy inventory levels while meeting Walmart demand requirements.
- Ensure forecast accuracy, monitor performance, and take corrective actions to achieve results.
- Integrate product lifecycle objectives as part of demand planning, including new item introductions, replenishment, and aged inventory disposition. Assortment & Item Lifecycle Management
- Align assortment with Walmart modular plans and category strategies.
- Support merchants and sales teams with analysis and insights to develop merchandise assortment plans aligned with Walmart-specific strategies. Replenishment & Order Management
- Execute replenishment buys and purchase orders according to planning calendar timelines.
- Manage Walmart-specific replenishment orders to ensure timely delivery and optimal in-stock levels.
- Validate PO details, ship windows, and cancel dates.
- Troubleshoot exceptions such as late shipments, shortages, and DC variances. Inventory Management
- Maintain Walmart target in-stock levels through replenishment strategies and inventory transfers.
- Conduct regular inventory analyses to identify slow-moving or obsolete items; recommend and execute liquidation strategies by channel/account. Reporting & Analysis
- Pull and analyze data from Walmart internal systems to support decision-making.
- Complete Walmart weekly reporting requirements in partnership with Sales.
- Provide trend-based insights for key business reviews and hindsight meetings; respond to real-time shifts in demand. Compliance & Performance
- Monitor and take proactive measures to prevent OTIF failures, which can result in chargebacks and negatively impact vendor scorecards.
