Job Summary:
This position requires a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks requiring heavy physical activity and the use of hand tools and simple power equipment. This employees' time will be spent largely outdoors in the maintenance of City Facilities as assigned. This is a temporary/seasonal non-benefit eligible positions, and will work a maximum of 599 hours (approximately 14 weeks). Regularly scheduled shifts will take place between Monday and Friday between 8am and 5pm, with occasional weekend or evening duties to support city events or urgent public works projects. Tasks included but are not limited to:
  • Lawn mowing, weed eating, plant care, irrigation, etc.
  • Applying fertilizers and other chemicals
  • Leaf and yard debris removal
  • Building maintenance including pressure washing, painting, cleaning, etc.
  • Washing and maintaining city vehicles & equipment
  • Cleaning bathroom and removal of trash at city park
  • Help with city events set-up and tear down
  • Dig ditches, haul materials, break up concrete and asphalt surfaces
  • Erect and maintain public signs Desirable skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license, and a high school diploma or equivalent. (License status will be checked)
  • Knowledge of repair, maintenance, and construction, as well as lawn and plant care.
  • Skills in safe operation and care of assigned equipment, vehicles, machines and tools.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions, work independently and with others, and perform physical tasks in adverse weather conditions.
