Reports to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)Primary Accountability:
A Registered Nurse (RN) at a Critical Access Hospital plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting. This position requires adaptability, clinical expertise, and leadership, as RNs oversee patient treatment across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services , ensuring compliance with hospital protocols and state regulations. Responsibilities include supervising LPNs and PCTs, responding to urgent medical situations, coordinating patient transfers, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. Strong decision-making, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.Registered Nurse Duties:
Completes initial assessment of client needs and documents assessment appropriately. In the absence of Business Office Staff, shall complete patient registration, completes consent for care, answers incoming phone calls, etc. Completes admissions/discharges per facility policy. Transcribes physician's orders as needed. Implements physician orders promptly and accurately, seeking clarification as necessary. Attend provider rounds as appropriate and care coordination. Notifies provider of changes in patient's condition and follows through until appropriate action is taken. Shall assist with scheduled outpatient procedures including ER, and routine outpatient services. Documents patient information within EMR, and updates care plan as needed. Gives a thorough bedside report to the oncoming shift and follows through as needed on information given by previous shift report, patient, or family regarding concerns. Initiates plan of care based on assessments and goals including other disciplines appropriately. Patient care plan defines patient/family problems and includes plan of care that addresses short- and long-term goals. Establishes priorities of nursing care based on assessment of patient. Utilizes team members appropriately according to their abilities and position. Assists in covering the floor for meals and breaks, including answering call lights and other duties as appropriate. Assures that delegated assignments have been completed before the end of the shift. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and skills necessary to perform nursing procedures/treatments. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows procedures for obtaining lab, x-ray, EKG, & other services. Cooperates and communicates effectively with all other departments and personnel. Is an effective and cooperative team member. Assists in maintaining equipment and environment in a safe condition. Uses instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately and economically to avoid damage, loss, or waste. Reports equipment damage/malfunction immediately. Completes daily, monthly, and other assigned duties promptly and documents appropriately. Completes other duties as assigned by CNO, or Administration.Regulatory Requirements:
Graduate from a school of professional nursing Current Kansas license to practice as a Registered Nurse BLS Healthcare Provider Certification or willing to obtain upon hire Willing to obtainTNCC, ACLS, PALS

Pushing and pulling heavy objects. Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients Eye/Hand, Eye/Foot, Hand/Foot Coordination. Normal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses. Normal hearing, with or without hearing aids. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. The ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel. The ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.Work Environment:
Well-lit work area. Working under stressful conditions - physically demanding, high stress environment. Subject to irregular hours and frequent interruptions. Works under emergency situations. Public speaking before small and large groups. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses' conditions. Works in all patient care areas. Work with people under all conditions.Additional Duties:
