Job Summary/Basic Function Position Overview:
Central State University (CSU) is one of the nineteen 1890 Land-Grant and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Agricultural Research and Development Program (ARDP) at CSU fulfills the land-grant research mission of the university including the establishment of key areas such as Developing and Infusing Emergent Technologies in Agricultural Systems, Sustaining Plant and Animal Systems, Securing Natural Resources and Environmental Systems, and Enhancing Food Nutrition and Health Systems. ARDP seeks a dynamic and innovative scholar to serve as a research faculty member in Agricultural Economics. This position is a 12-month tenure track supported by the Evans-Allen program. It supports the institution's land-grant mission by enhancing research and outreach activities in the agricultural economics area thereby addressing issues that impact Ohio's agricultural sector, rural communities, and underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver nationally and internationally recognized research programs in agricultural economics, including farm management, agricultural policy, marketing, and resource economics, which produce publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Develop, lead, and maintain successful collaborative interdisciplinary research initiatives with faculty members across the university as well as other faculty members in Agricultural Economics (internal or external), which can translate into securing external funding to support these efforts. Provide mentoring and advise undergraduate students through experiential research activities. Deliver outreach activities to support local farmers, agribusinesses, and policymakers. Provide service to professional societies, as well as the department, college, and university. Participate in university and professional development activities. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director and Associate Director for Research, based on the needs of the ARDP. Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree in agricultural economics, applied economics, or closely related fields. Strong record of scholarly activities, including peer-reviewed publications and/or grant activity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations. The selected individual must be authorized to work in the United States The candidate must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 30 lbs. A valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications Research publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience writing grant proposals and outreach activities and demonstrated ability to initiate and manage projects with minimal supervision. A record of successfully securing external funding for research activities. Experience in land-grant institutions or similar organizations. Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain collaborative research partnerships.
