Residential Direct Support Professional

Job description Tiegerman Community Services (TCS) provides services to adults with developmental disabilities in Queens, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties and is approved by the New York State Office for People with Disabilities (OPWDD). We are seeking compassionate Direct Service Professionals to join our team. The ideal candidates will provide essential care and support to individuals in need, ensuring their well-being and comfort TCS is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Residential Programs located in:

Farmingdale, NY Kings Park, NY Available Shifts Kings Park Location:

Saturday & Sunday

• 7 AM to 3 PM (part time) Sunday
• Thursday 3PM
• 11PM (full time) Thursday
• Monday 3PM-11PM (full time)

Rate:

$20.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene. Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation and clean up. Assist/monitor/teach individuals on completion of daily chores. Provide light housekeeping ( all common areas of the home) Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns and problems. Serve, as an informal advocate for residents. Assist/monitor/teach individuals in holding meetings and informal discussion groups with peers. Supervise individuals in on and off campus activities. Handle emergency situations appropriately. Utilize crisis interventions when necessary. Complete required documentation. Administer medication, schedule appointments, transport to and from appointments, order medication, follow up with appointments and but not limited to tasks given from RN, Manager, and Administration. Provide first-aid assistance to all individuals and assist in the follow through on medical needs for residents. Assure individuals follow routines Performs any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Asst. Manager, and Administration. Report suspected abuse & neglect to supervisor immediately (within one hour). Transport individuals to and from community outings

Requirements:

Valid NYS Driver's License required for all full time and part time positions Minimum Education of High School Diploma/GED required Experience with Special Needs Population preferred
