Job Description

STARTING BASE RATE INCREASED TO
$18.50 per hour with potential to increase up to $20.25 within the first month with completion of certifications. Overtime available Wraparound Services of the Hudson Valley is celebrating over 70 years of providing quality residential and community based services to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the Hudson Valley. We are currently seeking a caring, committed, dedicated DSP to join our team at our residence in New Paltz. Make a difference in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by assisting them to lead more independent lives.
Current DSP shifts available:
as of 5/7/26 Day shift FT
  • 7a-3p
  • Sat/Sun off Evening FT
  • 3p-11p
  • Tues/Wed off Mixed shift FT
  • 8a-8p Sat/Sun; 3-11 Thurs/Fri (Mon/Tues/Wed) Overnight FT 11p-9a (Sun/Tues/Wed off) Mixed PT (20 hours)
  • 8a-4p Sat/Sun; 4p-8p Tues
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Possession of a clean, valid New York State Driver's License.
Current certifications:
First Aid, SCIP, CPR, Van, Medication Administration and all house specific (i.e. tube) if required, must be obtained within six months.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Implementation of Individual's Comprehensive Functional Assessment or Individualized Service Plan and Individual's
MY LIFE PLAN
as needed. Completion of OPWDD Core Competency training Implement Individuals Residential Habilitation Plan and/or Formal Active Treatment Goals. Document goal progress on a daily basis. Capable of learning use of electronic record for documentation Adhere to Individuals' safeguard plans. Adhere to Person Centered Philosophy of Care. Demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies on an on-going basis. Physically transfer participants during ADL and positioning activities. Assist and train Individuals in activities of daily living, including but not limited to: toileting, feeding, dressing, and bathing. Implement therapeutic programs as required by clinical staff. Administration of medical treatments as prescribed by medical staff. Complete required written reporting daily in the program communication log. Participate in washing, drying, folding and mending of residents' clothing and linens. Participate in cleaning and general maintenance of the residence and Agency-owned property Preparation of meals and clean-up. Participate in cleaning and maintenance of adaptive equipment and other personal possessions of residents. Assist in transporting residents to medical, recreational and educational services as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee will be in a primarily residential environment (not a typical office setting); in a vehicle; or, in the community. This position will at times require an employee to provide emergency coverage and to work day, evening and awake overnight shifts (including those falling on weekends and holidays). This position may expose employees to bloodborne pathogens. This position may expose employees to the profanity and violent behavior of people served. This position may require staff to assist people served with very personal intimate care.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee (using approved agency lifting equipment) will be called upon to support and use a mechanical lift to maneuver adult people with developmental and other disabilities; transfer people to and from wheelchairs; to and from beds; on and off toilet seats; in and out of showers; and, in and out of vans or other vehicles. An employee in this position must be able to physically intervene (when appropriate and in an approved manner) to protect the individual from causing harm to themselves or others and to safely evacuate the home or vehicle during an emergency. These duties may entail lifting/supporting/transferring up to 35 pounds, or on an emergency occasion 200 pounds or more with the assistance from other staff or devices. Employees will regularly be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands (or hands and arms) to carry, finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; crouch and kneel. Employees will also be regularly required to hear (with or without hearing devices), see (with or without corrective lenses) and speak.

$18.50
