Job Description
As an Area Manager in you will initially 3-5 distribution locations, ensuring operational excellence and fostering strong client relationships. Your mission is to manage and optimize the performance of these facilities while driving business growth and delivering exceptional service. Operational Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic warehouse and distribution operations plans, ensuring seamless execution across all sites in the region.
- Establish and enforce operational processes, procedures, and metrics to drive efficiency, quality, and safety at all facilities.
- Lead cross-functional projects, including facility start-ups and other business initiatives, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
Financial Accountability:
- Prepare and oversee financial budgets, ensuring performance aligns with financial targets.
- Conduct monthly financial projections and analysis for each site, identifying opportunities for cost savings and performance improvement.
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and managing expectations with professionalism and tact.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining operational integrity.
- Handle challenging conversations with maturity and adaptability, turning potential conflicts into opportunities for growth and improvement.
Sales Support and Business Development:
- Partner with the sales and business development team to identify growth opportunities, conduct site assessment visits, and engage with prospective clients.
- Assist in client presentations and discussions, showcasing your operational expertise to secure new business.
Performance Monitoring and Improvement:
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all regional facilities, driving continuous improvement and operational success.
- Use data analysis to identify trends, optimize workflows, and implement process enhancements.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor facility managers and direct reports, providing strategic guidance, support, and coaching.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation across all sites.
Position Requirements:
- 3-7 years of experience in multi-site operational management, preferably within the grocery or 3PL industries.
- Proven ability to develop workforce strategies and drive process improvements.
- Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to use metrics to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience managing challenging client conversations.
- Sales-minded and curious, with the ability to support business development activities.
- A self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly, motivate teams, and deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
