About Rebel Logistics Service Rebel Logistics Service is a non-asset-based third-party logistics provider specializing in customized transportation and final-mile solutions for retailers across the continental United States. We coordinate with a nationwide network of carrier and warehouse partners to support dedicated retail schedules, pool distribution, final-mile delivery, static linehaul and truckload lanes, cross-dock services, and other customer-specific programs. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced, hands-on business development professional who can build profitable, lasting customer relationships in the transportation and logistics industry. This is not an entry-level sales position. The right person already understands how logistics services are sold, can speak confidently with retail and transportation decision-makers, and has an established professional network or book of business that can create realistic near-term opportunities. Retail logistics experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with a successful book of business in other compatible industries or service areas will also be considered. Candidates with fewer total years in the industry may qualify if they can demonstrate meaningful sales results, strong customer relationships, and a credible pipeline. What You Will Do
- Develop new business through an existing professional network, a qualified pipeline, referrals, research, cold outreach, re-engagement of past prospects, and industry events.
- Identify and pursue opportunities involving final mile, dedicated schedules, pool distribution, static linehaul or truckload lanes, LTL, cross-dock, warehousing, and customized logistics programs.
- Build relationships with customer decision-makers and understand their operational, service, reporting, pricing, and contractual requirements.
- Work closely with Rebel's operations team and carrier partners to confirm that proposed solutions are practical, serviceable, and financially sound before commitments are made.
- Develop strong, professional relationships with both customers and carrier partners. Successful selling at Rebel requires respect for both sides of the operation.
- Prepare pricing proposals, presentations, account plans, and other sales materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate prospect, activity, pipeline, and follow-up information and provide weekly progress reporting.
- Participate in customer implementation and account-transition activities to help ensure a smooth operational launch.
- Travel to prospective and current customer locations, carrier-partner facilities, Rebel's Illinois office, conferences, and other business events as required.
- Attend the Illinois office at least once per month and complete initial in-person training as scheduled. Required Qualifications
- Prior business development or sales experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain services, or a closely related field. Applicants with no relevant sales experience will not be considered.
- A demonstrated record of generating new revenue and developing customer accounts, supported by specific examples of results.
- An established professional network, book of business, or qualified pipeline that the candidate reasonably believes can produce opportunities, subject to all existing confidentiality, non-solicitation, and other legal obligations.
- Working knowledge of transportation terminology, pricing concepts, service requirements, and the operational consequences of what is promised during the sales process.
- Ability and willingness to prospect consistently through research, telephone outreach, email, networking, referrals, and follow-up.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, follow-through, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment while remaining accountable to measurable activity and sales expectations.
- Ability and willingness to travel within the United States and to Rebel's Illinois office at least monthly. Preferred Qualifications
- Approximately five or more years of relevant logistics sales or business development experience. Equivalent demonstrated performance will be considered.
- Experience with a non-asset-based 3PL, freight brokerage, managed transportation provider, or similar logistics organization.
- Experience selling transportation or logistics solutions to retailers, including dedicated delivery schedules, final mile, pool distribution, static linehaul or truckload lanes, LTL, cross-dock, or warehousing programs.
- A current retail-focused book of business or strong relationships with retail transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply-chain decision-makers.
- Experience selling multiple transportation services rather than truckload alone. Candidates whose truckload experience is primarily retail-focused are encouraged to apply.
- Residence in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. Strong candidates elsewhere in the United States will be considered if monthly Illinois travel is practical. Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary, based on relevant experience, demonstrated sales performance, and the strength and realistic revenue potential of the candidate's existing network or book of business.
- Performance-based commission on qualifying new customer business generated by the employee. The commission plan and eligibility rules will be reviewed during the interview process and documented in writing.
- The starting salary may be structured with defined increases or incentives tied to the successful development and onboarding of identified customer opportunities. Any such arrangement will be documented separately from commission and based on agreed performance milestones.
- Company-paid employee health-insurance premium. Deductibles, copays, dependent coverage, and other plan expenses remain the employee's responsibility, subject to plan terms.
- 401(k) plan with company matching, subject to plan eligibility and terms.
- Paid time off.
Important Expectations This role requires both relationship-driven selling and consistent prospecting. An existing network is important, but it does not replace weekly business-development activity, accurate reporting, or the continued pursuit of new opportunities. Candidates must respect all lawful obligations to current and former employers. Rebel does not request or accept confidential information, proprietary customer lists, trade secrets, or business that a candidate is prohibited from soliciting. Employment will require appropriate confidentiality and non-solicitation agreements. Additional restrictive covenants may apply when lawful and appropriate to the position and compensation arrangement. How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief summary describing:
- The logistics services and customer industries you have sold to
- Your individual sales results and typical sales cycle
- The general size and composition of your professional network or book of business, without disclosing confidential customer information
- Your location and ability to travel to Illinois for training and monthly office visits Qualified candidates should be prepared to discuss specific, verifiable examples of accounts they personally developed, the gross revenue or gross profit they generated, and their role in winning and supporting that business.
