Job Description

Cornerstone Hospitality, LLC, an award winning Boutique Hotel operator, is seeking a Director of Sales for the Sessions Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel located in Bristol, Virginia . This boutique property is located in downtown Bristol and celebrates the musical heritage of this vibrant community. The property was recognized as the #1 Tribute hotel in North America for 2023 due to its Outstanding guest scores and delivery on an exceptional and memorable guest experience. The Director of Sales and Marketing at the Sessions Hotel, will lead the development and execution of strategic sales and marketing plans and initiatives to maximize profitability for the hotel in order to achieve budget, revenue and market share targets. The successful candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job. Embrace the culture and service standard to promote the brand. Oversee all sales & marketing efforts. Lead strategic direction, management and tactics to achieve budgeted top-line revenues Accountable for sales & marketing budget to assure appropriate spend. Responsible for working directly with the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager in creating a clear and credible vision for the hotel. Understands market mix and aligns human resources, structures and systems to achieve strategic goals and maximize all revenues. Act as the hotel ambassador, builds relationships and partnerships to leverage the exposure of the hotel in the community. Ability to perform critical analysis. Ability to manage extensive amounts of information and provides constructive feedback/direction. Extensive knowledge of marketing, negotiating and sales procedures associated with the hotel industry. Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales and marketing communication that properly reflects the Marriott and hotel image. Excellent spoken and presentation skills. Considerable ability to listen effectively. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team. Ability to delegate, manage and organize complex projects and establishes priorities consistent with department/hotel objectives. Ability to effectively deal with department heads, customers and team members, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints. Ability to effectively lead team of professionals.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Responsible for assisting in completion and communication of monthly sales and catering revenue results to Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, General Manager, Regional Director of Operations and COO. Develops appropriate revenue/production goals for the sales and catering team with Regional Director of Sales & Marketing support and approval Actively participates in weekly yield meeting Works with Director of Revenue Management on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual rooms Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Catering budgets and forecasting Responsible for management of departmental budgets including forecasting monthly expenses and explanation of variances on P&L Regular analysis of industry intelligence reports Pulls and analyzes relevant data to develop and recommend appropriate actions Create Annual Business Plan
EXPERIENCE
Requires substantial operations/sales leadership experience; preferably 3 years or more. Marriot experience preferred Comparable hotel size and scope experience preferred in a boutique hotel setting. Proven track record of successes in achieving revenue objectives. Proven ability to recruit, motivate and train sales team.
