Job Description

Position Overview The Crane Sales Manager serves as the primary leader responsible for driving crane rental sales, managing daily operations, and ensuring exceptional customer service within the Crane Rental division. This individual functions both as a business developer and an operations coordinator, overseeing sales activities, staffing, scheduling, equipment readiness, and customer relationships. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, professional communication, and the ability to collaborate across multiple construction-related departments—including project management, excavation, blasting, engineering, and accounting—to support companywide success. Sales & Business Development Generate new crane rental business by actively soliciting customers, tracking construction opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships within the West Virginia and Northern Virginia market. Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales representatives to achieve individual and collective targets Represent the company professionally with owners, contractors, engineers, architects, and public officials. Identify and report new cross-department project opportunities to assist estimating, excavation, and other operations teams. Distribute leads to other sales persons to ensure as many successful sales as possible Develop and implement sales strategies to expand market share in crane sales and rentals. Consistently work to expand and strengthen the customer base. Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and conduct regular training sessions. Prepare and present performance reports to senior management. Prospect and develop new business opportunities with construction firms, industrial clients, and rental companies. Present and promote crane products (tower, mobile, crawler, self-erecting) to meet client needs. Operations & Scheduling Oversee the daily operations of the crane rental department, including dispatching, scheduling, and coordination of operators and equipment. Ensure equipment is operational and coordinate maintenance needs with the mechanical department. Report to ownership broken or damaged equipment in need of repair Maintain a detailed monthly schedule and weekly look-ahead calendar to optimize planning, minimize downtime, and communicate workload to ownership. Monitor field activities to ensure safety, productivity, and compliance with OSHA and company policies. Maintain fleet readiness by the use of in house mechanics and third party vendors. Attend weekly equipment maintenance meeting Negotiate contracts, prepare proposals, and close deals to achieve revenue targets. Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings. Help maintain CRM records, track pipeline activity, and forecast sales performance. Rental Coordination Serve as the primary contact for rental inquiries, reservations, and customer support. Prepare rental agreements, quotes, and ensure compliance with documentation requirements. Coordinate scheduling, delivery, installation, and return of rental equipment. Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient service. Resolve customer issues promptly, ensuring satisfaction throughout the rental process Team Leadership & Personnel Management Hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, manage disciplinary actions for sales staff and operators. Provide daily direction to dispatchers and crane crews, and sales staff ensuring they are fully prepared for scheduled work. Promote teamwork, communication, and professional development across departments. Act as the "eyes and ears" of the company, maintaining high professional standards and relaying issues promptly to HR or Ownership. Customer & Project Coordination Maintain strong, ongoing communication with customers to ensure satisfaction and resolve issues quickly and professionally. Work closely with subcontractors, engineers, and inspectors when crane operations intersect with project requirements. Support project managers and other departments to meet schedule milestones and resource needs. Administrative & Financial Responsibilities Work with accounting to review monthly billing, verify customer payment status, and report concerns to ownership. Ensure accurate project documentation, schedules, safety records, and correspondence. Use technology and project management tools to improve efficiency and communication. Required Skills & Qualifications Proven ability to set and meet sales goals. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management capabilities. Experience with scheduling and dispatching software; proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools. Ability to read construction plans and work effectively with engineers, inspectors, and contractors. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and manage staff effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic construction environment. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Extensive experience in construction, crane operations, or related heavy equipment industries. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
