Job Description
Job Overview Metro Drugs is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Cashier to join our Pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient service, accuracy in transaction processing, and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy operations. As a Pharmacy Cashier, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient pharmacy workflows, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care in a fast-paced pharmacy environment while developing valuable skills in pharmaceutical operations. Responsibilities Process patient transactions accurately using pharmacy software systems, including billing and data entry. Assist customers with medication purchases, insurance questions, and general inquiries while maintaining a professional demeanor. Ensure adherence to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and state healthcare regulations during all transactions. Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Support pharmacy staff by managing inventory control, restocking shelves, and verifying medication availability. Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on medication dispensing procedures, including IV infusion and sterile IV admixture procedures when Assist in training new staff members on pharmacy policies, customer service protocols, and data entry procedures. Contribute to a positive patient experience by providing attentive service and accurate medication handling in both community and hospital pharmacy settings. Skills Proven experience in pharmacy cashiering or customer service within a pharmacy environment. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes. Understanding of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation laws, and medical terminology. Strong knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws as well as pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to provide compassionate patient care. Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
