The ideal candidate is confident working with customers, comfortable operating a POS system and handling transactions, and capable of preparing high-quality food while supporting the overall daily operation. As a Lead Cashier/Cook, you will help lead by example, support team members, maintain accurate orders and payments, and ensure guests receive friendly, efficient, and professional service. This role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, basic cooking abilities, leadership qualities, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities during busy service periods. Duties and Responsibilities Cashiering & Customer Service Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional, and efficient service. Accurately take customer food and beverage orders using the company's POS system. Process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately. Follow proper cash-handling procedures and assist with register balancing when required. Maintain an organized and efficient cashier station. Answer customer questions about menu items, ingredients, specials, pricing, and available options. Recommend and upsell menu items, beverages, and additional offerings when appropriate. Address customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly Ensure customer orders are accurate, complete, and served in a timely manner Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized front-of-house and dining area. Provide a positive customer experience from greeting through order completion. Kitchen & Food Preparation Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, quality standards, and company procedures. Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, assembling, cooking, and plating. Monitor food quality, temperature, consistency, freshness, and presentation. Ensure food is prepared accurately and efficiently during busy service periods. Assist kitchen staff with daily prep and station responsibilities. Maintain appropriate food preparation levels to meet customer demand while minimizing waste. Follow food safety, sanitation, health department, and workplace safety requirements Properly store, label, rotate, and handle food products. Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures. Ensure kitchen equipment, preparation areas, and workstations are properly cleaned and maintained. Lead & Team Support Lead by example and help maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Support and guide cashiers, cooks, prep staff, and other team members during daily operations Assist with assigning stations and delegating tasks during busy service periods. Help train new employees on customer service, POS procedures, food preparation, cleanliness, and company standards. Monitor workflow between the cashier/front-of-house and kitchen teams. Communicate customer orders and special requests clearly to kitchen staff. Help resolve operational issues and communicate concerns to management. Step in where needed to maintain smooth service and adequate staffing coverage. Support team members during high-volume periods, special events, catering, and large orders. Inventory & Operations Assist management with inventory counts and stock monitoring. Rotate products using proper FIFO procedures. Monitor food and supply levels and notify management when products need to be reordered. Assist with reducing food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and product rotation. Help maintain accurate food preparation and production levels. Assist with opening and closing duties. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen, cashier area, service areas, and dining space. Follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Identify opportunities to improve customer service, efficiency, and daily operations. Qualifications Previous experience as a Lead Cashier, Cashier, Cook, Lead Cook, Line Cook, Prep Cook, Kitchen Supervisor, Shift Lead, Server, or similar food service role is preferred. Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills. Experience operating a POS system and processing customer orders is preferred. Experience handling cash, credit card transactions, and register procedures. Basic cooking and food preparation experience. Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and food preparation procedures. Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant, café, quick-service, catering, or food service environment. Knowledge of food safety, food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety. Ability to maintain food quality, consistency, portion control, and presentation standards. Ability to train, support, and provide guidance to team members. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Basic math skills for cash handling, transactions, portion control, and inventory. Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient during busy service periods. Reliable attendance and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Preferred Qualifications Food Handler Certification. ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain certification Previous POS system experience. Cash-handling and register-balancing experience. Experience supervising or training employees. Experience with inventory management and product rotation. Experience in high-volume restaurants, cafés, catering operations, or quick-service environments. Experience with food preparation, recipe execution, portion control, and food quality Experience handling customer complaints and resolving service issues.
