Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Parts Clerk receives and issues parts and supplies and organizes and maintains inventory records for all parts stock, ensuring the stock level does not fall below minimum levels. This position also maintains a computer database of all part numbers and enters information such as manufacturer, vehicle maintenance reporting standards (VMRS) codes and warranty details and communicates with suppliers and maintenance departments regarding order status, delivery times and shipping information.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when and where necessary. Assist mechanics with choice of parts. Prepare parts requisitions. Request quotes from vendors to ensure we receive the best pricing. Issue purchase orders and track in-house inventory. Place orders for parts, tires, fluids, fuels, and supplies timely to avoid stock outs. Manage and maintain site inventory re-order points (ROPs). Manage and maintain "Parts on Hand" staging area to ensure accurate repair order status maintained and parts are accounted for correctly. Perform cycle counts, process returns and cores. Process returns on a weekly basis. Track return status to ensure proper replacements or credits are received timely. Manage and adjust inventory minimums/maximums, and reorder levels as necessary to maintain proper inventory levels and avoid stock outs. Complete daily and weekly cycle counts, as well as annual physical inventories. Compare invoices against requisitions to verify quality and quantity of merchandise received and replenish stock as shipments arrive. Enter receipts and distribution of parts and supplies into computer. Issue requested parts on open repair orders to mechanics and accurately charge all parts requested by mechanics onto repair orders. Keep records of parts received and issued. Ensure all parts are stored in assigned locations. Affix bar code labels to all inventory parts to track usage. Ensure all parts delivered each day are received and stocked by the end of their shift. Perform general housekeeping daily in the parts room and receiving Area, including cleaning desk areas, sweeping, dusting, picking up and putting away items, stocking/restocking, etc. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other support equipment. Assist with reducing slow-moving or dead inventory and reducing any variances. Maintain open communication within the Parts Department as well as with all other departments. Occasionally pick up and deliver parts from vendors and deliver to other TDS locations. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or its equivalent At least one year of experience with managing inventory Must be able to be forklift-certified by the company Should have strong inventory and data entry skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced work environment Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of experience in Class 8 vehicle parts or heavy equipment retail Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite - i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook Diesel mechanical background P1 and/or P2 ASE Certification
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Class C driver's license. Safe driving record for the last three years
