Job Description
We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, and reliable individual to join our team as a street promoter for the Medieval Torture Museum! This is a fun, flexible, short-term gig perfect for students or anyone looking for quick extra cash on the weekends. No professional acting experience is required — we just need someone charismatic, enthusiastic, and comfortable interacting with the public while wearing a themed costume.
Responsibilities & Promotion Location:
•Costume Sourcing:
Source and rent or provide a suitable themed costume (Executioner or Inquisitor style) for the shifts.Please note:
Sourcing the costume is treated as an additional responsibility and will be compensated separately (rental/purchase costs will be fully reimbursed or paid as a separate bonus).- Hand out promotional brochures/flyers
- to the public.
- Location details: You won't just be standing right at the museum entrance. The specific street promotion spot will be discussed and coordinated individually with you and our team. It will always be a high-traffic area located within a maximum of 3 blocks from the museum in Downtown Chicago.
- Maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude to match the museum's fun and immersive atmosphere.
Schedule & Hours:
Days:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.Shift Duration:
Short shifts of 2 to 3 hours per day (primarily during peak museum hours). Important Costume Note (Additional Compensation): For this role, you will be required to wear a themed costume.- Candidate will be asked to source their own costume for these shifts.
Compensation:
As mentioned above, this is considered an extra task and is paid separately. We are completely open to discussing the logistics during the interview to ensure you are fairly compensated for this effort.Compensation & Pay:
Base Rate:
Competitive hourly rate + percentage for every museum ticket sold using your personal promo codeper (to be discussed personally based on your availability and experience).
Plus:
Separate compensation/reimbursement for the costume task.Requirements:
- Must be 18+ and legally authorized to work in the US.
- Located in the Chicago area with the ability to reliably commute to the Downtown location.
- Outgoing, high-energy personality, and comfortable speaking with people on the street.
- Punctual, responsible, and committed to showing up on time for the scheduled shifts.
- Comfortable standing on your feet and performing in a costume for 2-3 hours.
